Thu Sep 19 16:27:00 UTC 2024: ## Chelsea Defender Jorja Fox Suffers Second ACL Injury in a Year

**LONDON -** Chelsea defender Jorja Fox has suffered another anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury, this time while on loan at Crystal Palace. The 21-year-old, who recently signed a new three-year contract with Chelsea, will return to the club to begin her rehabilitation.

This is Fox’s second ACL injury in less than a year, having previously sustained one in May 2023 while playing for Brighton & Hove Albion. The England youth international joins a growing list of WSL players who have suffered ACL injuries, including Chelsea teammate Sophie Ingle, who was injured earlier this week.

The rising number of ACL injuries in women’s football has sparked concern. In December 2022, UEFA introduced a women’s health expert panel to investigate the issue, with FIFPRO citing increased workload, travel, and insufficient rest as potential contributing factors.

Chelsea will be hoping Fox makes a full recovery, and the club will be looking to bolster their defensive ranks as they prepare for their WSL season opener against Aston Villa on Friday.
