**Duncan, OK** – The Stephens County Sheriff’s Office is urging residents to be aware of a phone scam currently circulating the area. Citizens have reported receiving calls claiming they missed a court date and need to pay money over the phone.

The scam is particularly concerning as the calls are showing up as originating from the Sheriff’s Office phone number. The Sheriff’s Office would like to reiterate that they will never call and request money over the phone or electronically.

Anyone who receives such a call is urged to hang up immediately and contact the Sheriff’s Office directly at 580-255-3131.
