**Jakarta, Indonesia** – In a bid to empower the youth of Indonesia, PT Pelindo Solusi Logistik (SPSL), a subsidiary of Pelindo Group, has launched the “Pelindo Mengajar” program. This initiative aims to introduce students to the vital role of state-owned enterprises (SOEs) in the port and logistics sectors.
The program, which is part of SPSL’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program, will be implemented in various regions across Indonesia, marking Pelindo’s Day on October 1st, 2024. The program, which aligns with the vision of the “Golden Generation 2045,” seeks to contribute to sustainable development in Indonesia.
“Pelindo Mengajar” is a component of the larger “BUMN Mengajar” initiative. “We want to contribute to preparing Indonesia’s future generation by introducing them to SOEs, both in terms of organization and professions,” stated Kiki M. Hikmat, Senior Vice President of Corporate Secretariat at SPSL.
The program will involve direct interaction with students from various high schools across Indonesia. The program will see top executives from Pelindo Group, including the SPSL board of directors, providing educational sessions to approximately 300 students in SMA Negeri 2 Banjarmasin and SMA Negeri 16 Semarang.
The program goes beyond simply introducing the logistics industry. Students will also learn about the Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles that SPSL adheres to, including waste management. SPSL has provided a plastic bottle recycling machine to process waste into useful materials.
“We want students to see how environmental sustainability values are applied in our company’s operations,” added Kiki.
Beyond the educational component, SPSL is also providing educational support in the form of 10 laptops, two projectors, two printers, and four tablets to high-achieving students. “We encourage Gen Z to make a positive contribution to society and find solutions to global challenges,” Kiki emphasized.
Dr. Sri Wahyuni, the head of SMA Negeri 16 Semarang, expressed gratitude for the program, recognizing its significant benefits. Mukeniansyah, the head of SMA Negeri 2 Banjarmasin, echoed this sentiment, hoping his school will be selected again for future programs.
As a subsidiary of an SOE, SPSL is committed to delivering value to stakeholders and adhering to the principles of Good Corporate Governance (GCG). Kiki explained, “SPSL’s CSR program focuses on developing human capacity through education, economic empowerment, and harmonious interactions with the environment.”
Through “Pelindo Mengajar,” SPSL seeks to equip the next generation with valuable knowledge about the world of ports and sustainability, contributing to a brighter future for Indonesia.
