**PETALING JAYA** – In a major announcement, Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir has instructed all public universities to postpone fee collection for underprivileged students and prioritize their admission. This move aims to ensure that financial difficulties do not hinder students from pursuing higher education.
In a video statement released on Thursday, Zambry, alongside Umno secretary-general Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki, addressed the issue of students facing registration challenges due to financial constraints. “Asyraf and I have discussed this matter multiple times, and we are committed to ensuring that every student who receives an offer successfully registers at each university,” said Zambry.
Universities have been directed to prioritize student acceptance, with financial arrangements, including assistance from the National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN), to be managed later. PTPTN is also offering advance payments to facilitate the registration of new university students.
“I have made it clear that I don’t want to hear about students who have succeeded but couldn’t attend university,” emphasized Zambry. “Financial issues should never be an excuse for not pursuing higher education.”
Students facing any problems are urged to contact the university or the Higher Education Ministry directly for assistance. “Don’t worry about fees and such, as the Ministry provides various facilities for students, and God willing, we will ease any difficulties,” assured Zambry.
