**POZNAN, Poland** – The commanding general of the U.S. Army Sustainment Command (ASC), Brig. Gen. John ‘Brad’ Hinson, made his first visit to Europe, focusing on the 405th Army Field Support Brigade (405th AFSB) in Poland. Accompanied by Command Sgt. Maj. Jorge Escobedo, Hinson toured key locations and met with leaders from the 405th AFSB, including the Logistics Readiness Center (LRC) Poland and Army Field Support Battalion-Poland (AFSBn-Poland).
Hinson’s visit aimed to gain insights into the challenges and priorities of the 405th AFSB, which provides essential logistical support to U.S. forces in Europe and Africa. He stressed his commitment to supporting the brigade’s vital role in ensuring readiness, particularly in the current European context.
During his visit to Camp Kościuszko in Poznan, Hinson received briefings from LRC Poland staff and met with key personnel. Later, he participated in a briefing hosted by 405th AFSB Commander Col. Ernest Lane II, which included representatives from all four battalion commanders and leaders from seven of the eight 405th AFSB LRCs.
Hinson encouraged open dialogue, emphasizing the importance of hearing directly from the battalions and LRCs about their needs and concerns. He emphasized that the ASC’s role is to support the 405th AFSB and make their jobs easier, ensuring they have the resources and tools necessary to succeed.
Hinson and Escobedo also traveled to Powidz, Poland, to visit the Army’s newest and most modern Army Prepositioned Stocks-2 (APS-2) worksite. There, they were briefed by Lt. Col. Omar McKen, the commander of AFSBn-Poland, and toured the facility, which stores and maintains equipment for a modernized armored brigade combat team.
Escobedo and Hinson expressed their appreciation for the dedication and hard work of the 405th AFSB personnel, recognizing their crucial contribution to supporting U.S. Soldiers and their families. They acknowledged the brigade’s vital role in the current European security environment and assured them of the ASC’s commitment to supporting their mission.
