Thu Sep 19 21:09:24 UTC 2024: ## Modi Blasts Congress Over J&K Poll Promises, Calls it ‘Naxal Mindset’
Jammu: Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a scathing attack on the Congress party during a rally in Jammu on Thursday, accusing them of betraying the faith and culture of the region for “a few votes.” He specifically targeted Rahul Gandhi’s remarks during his recent US visit and the Congress-National Conference (NC) alliance’s manifesto for Jammu and Kashmir, which includes calls for dialogue with Pakistan and restoration of Article 370.
Modi alleged that the Congress, by aligning with the NC, was promoting a “Naxal mindset” that was “imported from other religions and other countries.” He accused the party of insulting the Dogra culture of Jammu and attempting to implement Pakistan’s agenda in the region. He further claimed that the Congress-NC alliance is being celebrated by Pakistan, citing a statement from Pakistan’s Defence Minister who allegedly said that Islamabad and the alliance share the same goal of restoring Article 370.
“They [Congress] don’t see anything except their vote bank, that’s why they deepened the divide between Jammu and Kashmir over the years. They have always discriminated against Jammu,” said Modi, adding that the BJP government had brought Jammu into the mainstream.
He also highlighted the development work undertaken by the BJP government in J&K, including the improved condition of Katra and Reasi railway stations, the introduction of Vande Bharat trains, and the construction of the Chenani Nashri tunnel, which has reduced travel time between Jammu and Srinagar.
Modi urged voters to reject the Congress-NC alliance, warning that their manifesto would lead to bloodshed in the valley and further instability in the region.
