Thu Sep 19 07:00:00 UTC 2024: ## Open Source Security Foundation Welcomes New Members, Hosts Secure Open Source Software Community Day
**VIENNA, AUSTRIA** – The Open Source Security Foundation (OpenSSF), a global initiative focused on securing open source software, announced the addition of new members from prominent technology, security, and research companies. Datadog joins as a premier member and will contribute to the OpenSSF Governing Board, while G-Research, HeroDevs, Keyfactor, Protect AI, and SIGHUP become general members.
The OpenSSF is celebrating its expanding community by hosting Secure Open Source Software (SOSS) Community Day at Open Source Summit Europe 2024 in Vienna. This event, with over 350 attendees, brings together members of the open source security ecosystem to share insights and drive improvements in open source software security.
“Welcoming our newest members to the OpenSSF is a testament to the growing recognition of the critical importance of securing open source software,” said Arun Gupta, OpenSSF Governing Board Chair. “By working together, we can address the challenges of open source security, foster innovation, and ensure that the software powering our digital world is secure and trustworthy.”
SOSS Community Day EU 2024 features sessions led by 36 experts on various topics, including education, innovation, tooling, vulnerabilities, and threats. The event also includes a 90-minute interactive tabletop exercise (TTX) designed to engage the open source community on security practices.
The OpenSSF also recognizes the contributions of individuals who go above and beyond in securing open source projects through the Golden Egg Awards. This year, Paolo Mainardi, CTO of SparkFabrik, received the award for his dedication to enhancing software supply chain security.
With the addition of new members and the continued commitment to community engagement and education, the OpenSSF aims to create a more secure and trustworthy open source software ecosystem for all.
