**PETALING JAYA, Sept 19:** Five Malaysian men, allegedly linked to Global Ikhwan Services and Business Holdings (GISB), were detained at the Bukit Kayu Hitam border checkpoint on Wednesday. While no immigration law violations were found, the Kedah Immigration Department is collaborating with police for further investigations into GISB.
The five individuals, aged between 29 and 45, were traveling in two motorhomes. They were reportedly attempting to renew their soon-to-expire International Circulation Permits (ICPs) at the border. According to Road Transport Department (JPJ) regulations, vehicles must be physically present for inspection. The motorhomes were registered in Qatar and carried Dubai license plates.
The department’s statement followed a viral post alleging that several GISB members were attempting to flee to Thailand with company assets. Concerns arose about potential removal of important company assets and related evidence from Malaysia.
Initial investigations revealed that the individuals had previously traveled abroad on August 20 through the same border checkpoint. One of the detainees is believed to be the son of a GISB leader. All five have been remanded for a week.
The motorhomes, each capable of carrying 6-8 people, were inspected by the Immigration department and subsequently handed over to the police. One of the detainees was taken into custody for further investigation, while the others were released to the authorities for subsequent action.
The investigation is ongoing, and the Kedah Immigration department is committed to collaborating with other agencies to ensure border security and integrity.
