Thu Sep 19 05:57:36 UTC 2024: ## Gauhati University’s “Margins” Journal Seeks Submissions on the Marginal
**Guwahati, India** – The Department of English at Gauhati University is inviting submissions to “Margins”, an annual, international, peer-reviewed journal exploring the concept of the marginal in literature and culture.
“Margins” welcomes a diverse range of scholarship, including:
* **In-depth analyses of both historical and contemporary texts:** These articles should offer interdisciplinary perspectives, examining the wider conceptual and situational significance of the texts (7500-10,000 words).
* **Rediscovery of previously overlooked texts and authors:** “Margins” is particularly interested in highlighting works that have been marginalized within mainstream disciplinary concerns, but are considered significant in their respective locations (10,000 words).
* **Short essays from young researchers:** These essays should address areas relevant to the journal’s focus on the marginal (3000-5000 words). This category also welcomes essays exploring marginal literary and cultural texts, pedagogical challenges of teaching marginality, and overlooked aspects of canonical texts.
* **Book reviews:** “Margins” welcomes reviews of books that align with its thematic focus on the marginal (up to 2500 words for reviews and 5000 words for review essays).
Submissions should follow MLA Handbook (8th Edition) style for referencing, using endnotes and a Works Cited list. All borrowed material must be properly credited.
Interested contributors should submit their work as an email attachment in MSWord to margins@gauhati.ac.in or ashaakc@gauhati.ac.in. Simultaneous submissions are not accepted.
The journal’s editorial team will conduct a preliminary screening, followed by external peer review. Authors will have two weeks to address reviewers’ feedback and resubmit their revised work.
