Fri Sep 20 01:49:08 UTC 2024: ## Manchester City Held to Goalless Draw by Inter Milan in Champions League Opener

Manchester City were held to a frustrating 0-0 draw by Inter Milan in their Champions League group stage opener at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday. Despite dominating possession and creating a number of chances, City failed to break down a resilient Inter defense.

Erling Haaland, who was on fire in the Premier League, struggled to find his usual rhythm, although he did have a dangerous header saved early in the game. City’s dominance continued throughout the match, with Phil Foden having a shot saved by Inter goalkeeper Yann Sommer in the 70th minute. However, Inter also had their moments, with Henrikh Mkhitaryan coming close to scoring with a header that sailed over the bar.

In the closing stages, Ilkay Gundogan had two late headed chances, but both went wide as City’s search for a winning goal ended in disappointment.

The result leaves City with a point in Group C, while Inter Milan are also on one point after drawing their opening match against Real Sociedad. The two teams will meet again in the reverse fixture at the San Siro later in the group stage.
