**Copenhagen, Denmark – [Date]** – Linni Rita Gad, producer at Danish animation studio EyeCandyFilm, has raised concerns about the animation industry’s current reliance on safe, formulaic projects.

“There’s a tendency towards very safe thinking,” Gad stated. “Approved projects are often based on known IPs or fit pre-defined target group expectations.” This, she argues, leaves animation vulnerable to being replaced by AI, which can quickly generate similar content.

While open to utilizing AI for technical improvements, EyeCandyFilm is cautious about using it for creative processes. Gad believes AI-generated content is currently “too generic and emotionless” to replace human creativity.

EyeCandyFilm believes online social platforms, like Roblox, are crucial for reaching young audiences. “This is where young – and older – audiences spend a lot of time, and perhaps the best place to target audiences in a way where the target group feels it is relevant to them,” Gad remarked.

The studio is currently pitching their new project, “Steel Hearts,” at Cartoon Forum. This 10-episode series is based on the novel “Den Rustne Verden” by Adam O. and takes place in a future where Europe is uninhabitable due to climate change and pollution. The story follows four siblings who must navigate a dangerous wilderness to return to their home in Newropa, a safe haven in Greenland.

With co-production partners in Croatia and Slovenia, and a distributor already secured for the Nordic countries, EyeCandyFilm is aiming for a wider global reach. “The story and the themes are universal,” Gad states, “so our ambition is to move beyond Europe.”
