**Sydney, Australia – October 10, 2023** – Australian rock icon Jimmy Barnes has announced the release of his sixth book, “Highways And Byways: Tall Tales And Short Stories From The Long Way Round,” following his recent recovery from surgery.

Barnes, the former frontman of Cold Chisel, cancelled two months worth of shows in August due to “unbearable pain” and underwent an urgent surgical procedure. He is now back home with his family and recovering.

His new book, set to be released on October 16, delves into a collection of personal stories, from his experiences performing with iconic US musicians in the 1970s to thrilling escapades in Hawaii. Barnes also explores family secrets uncovered in Glasgow and encounters with a colourful cast of characters, including both admired and controversial stars.

The book explores themes of mortality and the lighter side of hospital medication, as Barnes reflects on his life journey.

“I started writing in 2016 to share my story and make sense of things,” Barnes said. “I can hardly believe I’m now publishing my sixth book. Each memory that resurfaces helps me learn and grow, shining a light on the darker times in my life.”

Barnes’ new book comes after a tumultuous period in his life, including open-heart surgery in 2023 to combat a bacterial infection. He has since been posting regular updates on his health, sharing his recovery journey with fans.

“Highways And Byways: Tall Tales And Short Stories From The Long Way Round” will be available across Australia on Wednesday, October 16, for $45.
