Fri Sep 20 12:53:17 UTC 2024: ## Bumrah Reaches 400 Wicket Milestone, Dominant in Chennai Test

**Chennai, India -** Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah reached a significant milestone on Day 2 of the first Test against Bangladesh in Chennai. He became only the 10th Indian bowler, and the sixth pacer from the country, to achieve 400 wickets across all formats in international cricket. Bangladesh’s Hasan Mahmud became Bumrah’s 400th victim, falling to the fiery paceman in the second session.

Bumrah, who has become a dominant force in home conditions, continued his impressive form, taking three wickets in the first two sessions. He struck in his very first over, dismissing opener Shadman Islam with a delivery that crashed into the stumps. He added two more to his tally later in the day, removing Mushfiqur Rahim and Mahmud.

The 30-year-old Bumrah, who made his Test debut in 2018, joins an elite list of Indian fast bowlers including Kapil Dev, Zaheer Khan, Ishant Sharma, and Mohammed Shami. He reached this milestone in his 227th international innings, showcasing his rapid rise to the top of the bowling ranks.

Originally considered a white-ball specialist after his impressive performances in the Indian Premier League, Bumrah has cemented his position as India’s leading Test bowler. His recent success was evident in the Test series against England earlier this year, where he took 19 wickets in four matches.

Bumrah’s achievement further cements his reputation as one of the best all-format bowlers in the world. His dominance in the Chennai Test promises an exciting series ahead against Bangladesh.
