**Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir:** Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a massive election rally in Srinagar on Thursday, September 19, just a day after the first phase of voting for the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections. He declared his vision for a “Naya Kashmir” and launched a scathing attack on the Congress, National Conference (NC) and People’s Democratic Party (PDP), labeling them as “three families” who have held the region hostage for too long.
Modi praised the high voter turnout in the first phase, calling it a rejection of parties who “sympathize with stone pelters and terrorists.” He asserted that the people of Jammu and Kashmir have faith in his guarantee of a safe and prosperous future for the region.
The Prime Minister highlighted the progress made since the abrogation of Article 370, stating that schools are now flourishing, new institutions like AIIMS, medical colleges and IITs are being built, and terrorism is being eradicated. He vowed to “not let another generation be destroyed at the hands of these three families,” and accused them of obstructing local elections to maintain their hold on power.
Modi also emphasized the plight of Kashmiri Pandits and Sikhs who were driven out of the Valley due to the “selfish politics” of these families. He assured the audience that Jammu and Kashmir will regain its statehood and that the BJP will fulfill this commitment.
His speech concluded with a strong message of peace and prosperity, promising to create employment opportunities for the youth of Jammu and Kashmir. Modi’s rally is expected to galvanize BJP support in the region, as the party aims to secure a decisive victory in the upcoming assembly elections.
