Fri Sep 20 12:52:38 UTC 2024: ## India Dominates Bangladesh in First Test, Bumrah Shines
**Chennai, September 20, 2024:** Jasprit Bumrah’s masterful bowling performance led India to complete dominance over Bangladesh on the second day of the first Test match at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Bumrah claimed a crucial four wickets, while a collective effort from the Indian bowlers saw Bangladesh bundled out for a paltry 149 in their first innings, in response to India’s strong 376.
India, with a commanding 227-run lead, ended the day at 81/3 in their second innings, with Shubman Gill (33 not out) and Rishabh Pant (12 not out) at the crease.
Bumrah was a force to be reckoned with, taking wickets at crucial moments and displaying his trademark swing and pace. He dismissed in-form Shadman Islam, Mushfiqur Rahim, Taskin Ahmed, and Hasan Mahmud, effectively dismantling the Bangladesh batting order.
The other Indian bowlers, including Akash Deep (2/19), Ravindra Jadeja (2/19), and Mohammed Siraj (2/30), also played significant roles in Bangladesh’s collapse.
India’s second innings began with the loss of skipper Rohit Sharma (5) and Yashasvi Jaiswal (10), but Gill’s steady innings provided the necessary consolidation. However, the dismissal of Virat Kohli (17) late in the day slightly dampened the mood for India.
Despite the Bangladesh bowlers’ efforts to pick up wickets in the Indian first innings, including a five-wicket haul from Hasan Mahmud, India’s strong batting performance, led by Ravichandran Ashwin (113) and Ravindra Jadeja (86), ensured a massive lead going into the third day.
With a strong grip on the match, India will be aiming to wrap up the first Test in the coming days.
