Fri Sep 20 12:33:26 UTC 2024: ## India Dominates Bangladesh in Chennai Test, Takes Commanding Lead

**Chennai, India:** The first Test match between India and Bangladesh in Chennai has seen a complete shift in momentum in favor of the hosts after a strong performance on Day 2.

India, after being on the backfoot for the first two sessions of the opening day, gained command on the second day, thanks to a clinical bowling performance and a strong batting effort in their second innings.

**India’s Bowlers Shine:**

The Indian bowlers, led by Jasprit Bumrah, bundled out Bangladesh for a paltry 149 in their first innings, giving India a massive 227-run lead. Bumrah was the pick of the bowlers, taking four wickets, while Mohammed Siraj and Ravindra Jadeja chipped in with two wickets each.

**Pant and Gill Lead India’s Charge:**

In their second innings, India were 81/3 at stumps, with Rishabh Pant (12*) and Shubman Gill (33*) returning unbeaten. The duo extended India’s lead to a commanding 308 runs. Earlier, India lost Rohit Sharma (5), Yashasvi Jaiswal (10), and Virat Kohli (17) in their second innings.

**Bangladesh Struggles:**

Bangladesh’s batting continued to struggle throughout the day. After being reduced to 22/3 early on, they never truly recovered. The Indian bowlers, with their pace and accuracy, kept the Bangladeshi batters on the back foot throughout the day.

**India in a Strong Position:**

With a substantial lead and two of their key batsmen still at the crease, India are in a strong position to win the first Test. Bangladesh will need a remarkable turnaround in the remaining two days to salvage anything from this match.
