**Chennai:** India took control on the first day of the first Test match against Bangladesh at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Riding on a brilliant century by Ravichandran Aswin (102*), India reached 339/6 at stumps, with Ravindra Jadeja (86*) providing valuable support.
Aswin, playing on his home ground, reached his sixth Test century, showcasing his class and temperament. He and Jadeja shared a crucial 195-run partnership for the seventh wicket, breaking a 20-year-old record for the highest seventh-wicket partnership by Indians against Bangladesh.
Earlier, India had a shaky start, losing early wickets. However, the contributions of Aswin and Jadeja, along with a half-century by Yashasvi Jaiswal (52), ensured that India ended the day on a strong note.
Bangladesh, who are coming off a recent series win against Pakistan, will be looking to bounce back on day 2. They will need to take early wickets and restrict India’s score to keep the match competitive.
The series will consist of two Tests, with the second match scheduled for October 1st in Kanpur.
