Fri Sep 20 07:46:06 UTC 2024: ## Ashwin Breaks Record, Becomes First Cricketer to Achieve Double Milestone

**Chennai:** Indian all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin has etched his name in the history books by becoming the first cricketer ever to score 20 half-centuries and take 30 five-wicket hauls in Test cricket. This remarkable feat was achieved during the first Test match between India and Bangladesh in Chennai.

Ashwin, who is playing his 101st Test, reached this milestone with his sixth Test century, becoming only the second Indian bowler to score six centuries in the format. The veteran off-spinner has also accumulated over 3400 runs in his Test career, including 14 half-centuries.

What makes this accomplishment even more special is that Ashwin has scored four of his centuries batting at number eight or below. He now holds the record for most Test centuries scored batting at number eight or below, surpassing former New Zealand captain Daniel Vettori’s five centuries.

Ashwin’s impact extends beyond his batting prowess. He has also taken 36 five-wicket hauls in Test matches, a testament to his unparalleled bowling skills.

The Chennai pitch seems to suit Ashwin well, as he has a remarkable record at the M.A Chidambaram Stadium. He has scored 331 runs in seven innings at an average of over 55 and has taken over 30 wickets in Chennai.

This double milestone solidifies Ashwin’s status as one of the greatest all-rounders in the history of the game.
