Thu Sep 19 08:07:00 UTC 2024: ## Cyberattack Hits L&T Group, MoneyControl and Other High-Profile Twitter Accounts

**Hyderabad, India** – In a coordinated cyberattack on Thursday morning, hackers targeted several high-profile X (formerly Twitter) accounts, including L&T Group, MoneyControl, People Magazine, and the European Commission’s EUinmyRegion account. The hackers attempted to auction off the compromised accounts while promoting a fraudulent cryptocurrency scheme linked to the Solana blockchain.

The attackers used the hijacked accounts to push a message urging users to purchase the cryptocurrency token, $HACKED, claiming they would “pump” the value and share the profits. This tactic aimed to deceive users into artificially inflating the token’s price.

L&T Group, with over 37,000 followers, reacted swiftly, regaining control of its account and warning followers to avoid engaging with any posts until the situation was resolved. Similar warnings were issued by other affected accounts.

Cybersecurity experts suspect compromised API keys or third-party applications may have been used to breach the accounts. Investigations are ongoing to determine the full extent of the attack and prevent further incidents.

Authorities are urging affected users to review their account security and disconnect unnecessary third-party applications. The incident highlights the growing threat of cyberattacks targeting prominent social media accounts and underscores the importance of strong online security practices.
