Thu Sep 19 17:27:00 UTC 2024: ## Hunter Biden Faces Sentencing in December for Gun Charges

**WILMINGTON, Del. -** Hunter Biden, son of President Joe Biden, will be sentenced in December for felony firearms charges, after a judge granted a delay requested by the defense. The sentencing, originally scheduled for November 13th, has been moved to December 4th.

Biden was convicted in June for purchasing a gun in 2018 while knowingly being addicted to drugs, a violation of federal law. The charges carry a maximum sentence of 25 years in prison, although he is likely to face a much shorter sentence, or potentially no prison time at all.

This sentencing comes on the heels of Biden’s guilty plea to federal tax charges earlier this month in California. He faces up to 17 years in prison and a $1.35 million fine for those charges, with sentencing set for December 16th.

President Biden, who dropped his re-election bid in July, has stated that he will not use his presidential powers to pardon his son or lessen his sentence.

Hunter Biden, who has been open about his struggles with addiction, chose to plead guilty to the tax charges to spare his family further scrutiny and embarrassment. He has maintained sobriety since 2019.
