Thu Sep 19 18:29:10 UTC 2024: ## Union Minister Bittu Faces FIR for Remarks Against Rahul Gandhi
**Bengaluru, Karnataka:** A First Information Report (FIR) has been registered against Union Minister Ravneet Singh Bittu for his alleged inflammatory comments against Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi. The FIR was filed at High Grounds police station in Bengaluru based on a complaint by a Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee official.
Bittu, Minister of State for Railways, sparked controversy with his remarks accusing Gandhi of not being a true Indian and labelling him the “country’s number one terrorist.” His comments followed Gandhi’s statements during a US visit, where he spoke about the importance of religious freedom in India, specifically mentioning the right of Sikhs to wear turbans and visit Gurdwaras.
Bittu claimed that Gandhi’s remarks were appreciated by “separatists” and those involved in “making bombs, guns, and shells.” He went on to accuse Gandhi of being “ungrateful” and lacking intelligence.
Gandhi, during his US visit, stated that the fight in India is not just about politics, but also about fundamental rights and freedom of religion. He highlighted the importance of Sikhs being able to practice their faith freely, including wearing turbans and visiting Gurdwaras.
The Congress Party has condemned Bittu’s remarks, calling them “unacceptable and inflammatory.” The case against Bittu is now under investigation.
