Thu Sep 19 21:48:06 UTC 2024: ## Australia Dominate England in Thrilling ODI Opener

**Nottingham, England:** Travis Head starred with an unbeaten 154 as Australia clinched a resounding seven-wicket victory over England in the first ODI at Trent Bridge, taking a 1-0 lead in the five-match series.

Head’s sensational knock, laced with 20 fours and five sixes, guided Australia to a successful chase of 316 in 44 overs, marking their joint fourth-highest successful run-chase in ODI history.

England, after electing to bat first, were bowled out for 315 in 49.4 overs. Ben Duckett (95) and Will Jacks (62) put on a 120-run stand for the second wicket, but Marnus Labuschagne’s impressive bowling performance (3/44) put a halt to their momentum.

Australia’s bowling attack was further bolstered by Adam Zampa, who celebrated his 100th ODI with a memorable 3-49.

However, Head’s dominance at the crease was the defining factor in the match. He stitched together crucial partnerships with Steve Smith (37), Cameron Green (32), and Labuschagne (77*) to keep the chase firmly under control.

The victory extends Australia’s winning run in ODIs to 13 matches. England will now aim to regroup and bounce back in the second ODI at Headingley on September 21st.
