Ricky Bhui also contributed a useful 56 runs, forming a crucial 53-run partnership with Nishant Sindhu.
Despite early setbacks for Shreyas Iyer and Bhui, Samson took control and built a crucial 90-run stand with Saransh Jain (26 not out) for the sixth wicket. Samson’s aggressive batting put the opposition bowlers under pressure, ensuring India D finished the day on a strong note.
Leg-spinner Rahul Chahar was the pick of the bowlers for India B, claiming three wickets for 60 runs. Mukesh Kumar and Navdeep Saini took a wicket each.
Samson’s impressive innings come after scores of five and 40 in India D’s first match against India A. The 29-year-old batter will be hoping his strong performance in the Duleep Trophy will help him cement his place in the Indian limited-overs squad.
