England captain Ben Stokes is scheduled to undergo a scan on his hamstring injury next week, putting his participation in the upcoming Test series against Pakistan in jeopardy. Stokes sustained the injury in August while playing for the Northern Superchargers in The Hundred.
While he has resumed light batting training and recently participated in a net session and a golf tournament, the upcoming scan will determine the severity of the injury and Stokes’ readiness for the series opener on October 7th.
Stokes was included in the England squad, but his participation is subject to fitness.
Fellow England opener Zak Crawley, who is recovering from a thumb injury sustained against West Indies, was also included in the 17-member squad.
England will be looking to build on their recent series victories over West Indies and Sri Lanka, while Pakistan aim to bounce back from a disappointing home series loss to Bangladesh. The two teams last met in a Test series in Pakistan in 2022, where England secured a clean sweep.
