Thu Sep 19 15:27:00 UTC 2024: ## Arsenal Wonderkid Scores in UEFA Youth League, Setting New Age Record

**Bergamo, Italy:** Arsenal’s 14-year-old midfielder Max Dowman has etched his name in the history books, becoming the youngest ever goalscorer in the UEFA Youth League. Dowman, who is already a regular for the club’s Under-18s and an England Under-17 international, found the back of the net in the 49th minute of Arsenal’s 4-1 defeat to Atalanta on Thursday.

Despite facing opponents up to five years older, Dowman showcased his remarkable talent, breaking the previous record held by Rin Ahmeti of 2 Korriku at 16 years old.

While the match was a positive individual experience for Dowman, the Gunners suffered a loss to the talented Atalanta youngsters.

Dowman’s rise through the Arsenal ranks has been meteoric. He has impressed coaches with his intelligence and understanding of the game, drawing praise from Under-18s coach Jack Wilshere, who highlighted Dowman’s ability to grasp tactics and seamlessly integrate into the team.

“It’s reassuring to know that if I field an Under-14 who isn’t a regular in our training sessions, I can trust that they grasp our playing style and tactics,” Wilshere said, referencing Dowman’s recent four-assist performance in a victory over Fulham.

Wilshere is keen on nurturing Dowman’s talent, aiming to fast-track his development and prepare him for a potential future with the senior team.

Dowman’s record-breaking performance further emphasizes Arsenal’s commitment to youth development, following in the footsteps of Mikel Arteta’s bold decision to give Ethan Nwaneri his Premier League debut at the age of 15.
