**Dublin, Ireland** – Tech giant Amazon has announced a significant investment of over €22 billion in Ireland since its establishment in 2004, with €3 billion invested in 2023 alone. The company has hailed Ireland’s business environment as conducive to investment, highlighting its role in creating jobs, fostering skills, and building infrastructure across the country.

Amazon’s Irish operations have grown significantly since its initial Dublin office and Cork customer service center. The company now hosts the first Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructure region outside the US, established in 2007. Its Irish unit, Amazon Data Services Ireland Ltd, achieved turnover of nearly €6.1 billion in 2023, up from €4.9 billion the previous year.

Amazon currently employs approximately 6,500 people in Ireland across various roles, including data engineers, operations management, and finance. Its AWS cloud services business boasts notable Irish clients such as Ryanair, Bank of Ireland, and Stripe.

In recent years, Amazon has expanded its retail operations in Ireland, opening a new warehouse to handle orders on the island of Ireland following Brexit. The company also plans to launch a new Amazon.ie website in 2024.

Amazon’s investment has had a significant impact on Irish small and medium enterprises (SMEs). More than 1,000 Irish SMEs sold approximately 5.5 million products last year through Amazon, generating over €100 million in export sales outside the EU.

Leo Clancy, CEO of Enterprise Ireland, echoed the sentiment, stating that Amazon’s continued investment and commitment to supporting entrepreneurial companies in Ireland is a testament to the strength of the Irish enterprise ecosystem and talented workforce.
