**SINGAPORE** – Two men, aged 51 and 65, died from injuries sustained in a fire that broke out at Synergy@KB, an industrial building located at 25 Kaki Bukit Road 4, on Thursday afternoon (Sep 19).
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) was alerted to the fire at around 12.55pm. Upon arrival, firefighters discovered a unit on the fifth floor engulfed in flames, with smoke billowing throughout the entire floor.
Two unconscious individuals were found in a unit across from the one that was on fire. SCDF emergency medical services personnel performed CPR on both men before transporting them to Changi General Hospital, where they succumbed to their injuries.
The Singapore Police Force (SPF) confirmed the deaths on Friday, stating that based on preliminary investigations, foul play is not suspected.
An owner of a carpentry factory located on the sixth floor of the building, Mr. Jordan Alsagoff, told CNA that his workers reported seeing people trapped on the fifth and sixth floors and hearing shouts for help. Mr. Alsagoff stated that his workers, who were taking a nap after lunch, were among the first to evacuate the building and were all safe.
The SCDF extinguished the fire using two water jets. Investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing.
