**WIGTOWN, SCOTLAND** – A unique and popular “Bookshop Airbnb” in Wigtown, Scotland, is offering book lovers the chance to live their dream of running their own bookstore. The Open Book, a charity-run initiative, is the brainchild of author Jessica Fox and has been welcoming guests from around the world since 2014.
The concept is simple: guests stay in a flat above the bookstore and run the shop during the day, getting a firsthand experience of the bookselling life. This “holiday residency experience,” described as the first of its kind, has proven immensely popular, with a current waiting list spanning two years.
Daisy Yeung, a guest from Hong Kong, shared her enthusiasm, saying: “My dream is to be a book seller one day… Everybody here is just so nice.” She and her friend Lydia Man are currently running the shop for a week, enjoying the unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of books.
The Open Book generates about £10,000 annually for the Wigtown Festival Company, a local charity dedicated to promoting literature and the arts. This charming bookstore-turned-Airbnb continues to attract book enthusiasts, offering a truly unforgettable experience for those seeking a connection with the written word.
