Wed Sep 18 16:43:00 UTC 2024: ## Poachers Target Trophy Elk in Tizer Basin, FWP Seeks Public’s Help

**Helena, MT** – Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks (FWP) is investigating the poaching of a bull elk in the Tizer Basin area south of Helena. The elk was shot and killed during the archery season on September 14th, with its antlers removed and the rest of the animal left to waste.

The crime occurred in Hunting District 380, a highly sought-after permit area known for its mature bull elk population. FWP officials are urging the public to help identify the individuals responsible for this illegal act.

“This was a senseless act of poaching,” said [FWP official name], “The Tizer Basin is home to some of the state’s most prized elk, and this crime has robbed a valued resource from all Montanans.”

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact TIPMONT online at tipmont.mt.gov or by calling the hotline. A reward of up to $1,000 is available for information leading to an arrest and conviction.

FWP reminds hunters that all regulations must be followed, and any illegal activity will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
