Limerick-based designer Greg Hall is riding the wave of the football jersey trend with his brand, Pellador FC. Hall, who initially gained recognition for his graphic designs for music artists, found inspiration in the jerseys he loved as a child.
“It’s kind of ironic how much football jerseys have become a fashion statement,” Hall laughs, referencing the global obsession with the style recently fuelled by the Women’s World Cup, Euros, and the athleisure and blokecore trends. Celebrities like Rihanna, Dua Lipa, and Kim Kardashian have all embraced the look, solidifying its place in the fashion landscape.
Hall launched Pellador FC in November 2022, drawing heavily on the nostalgia of his youth. “It’s a return to what I loved growing up,” he explains, pointing to the iconic stripes, crests, and design elements that make football jerseys so appealing. “I’m a football fan, and I think they look cool, they have history, context, and personal nostalgia for me.”
Pellador FC is now available in Brown Thomas, offering a unique blend of sportswear-inspired designs with a modern twist. Hall’s innovative approach to the trend is capturing the attention of fashion enthusiasts, proving that the football jersey is more than just a sporting garment, it’s a cultural icon.
