**[Location] -** The US Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) is seeking innovative solutions for independent, autonomous precision timing sources, such as atomic clocks, to overcome the challenges posed by contested and congested radio frequency (RF) environments.

The announcement, released through SOFWERX, aims to develop technology that can function reliably in areas where the Global Positioning System (GPS) is unavailable, a critical issue for military operations.

“Existing systems depend heavily on GPS for positioning, navigation, and timing (PNT) services,” explained a SOFWERX spokesperson. “In contested environments, where GPS signals can be jammed or spoofed, these systems become unreliable. We are looking for solutions that can provide independent and precise timing sources to ensure mission success.”

The desired technology should be adaptable to various platforms, including aircraft, vehicles, maritime vessels, handheld devices, and small unmanned aerial systems (sUAS). The ideal solution would be compact, lightweight, and powered by rechargeable batteries.
