Wed Sep 18 11:23:00 UTC 2024: ## Train Cancelled After Squirrel Refuses to Disembark in Britain

**LONDON** – A train service in Britain was forced to terminate early on Saturday after a pair of squirrels boarded the train and one refused to leave, according to Great Western Railway (GWR).

The incident occurred on the 08:54 service from Reading to Gatwick Airport. While staff attempted to remove the squirrels at Redhill, one refused to disembark and the train was ultimately terminated.

“We can confirm that the 0854 Reading to Gatwick was terminated at Redhill after a couple of squirrels boarded the train at Gomshall without tickets,” a GWR spokesperson said. “We attempted to remove them at Redhill, but one refused to leave and was returned to Reading to bring an end to this nutty tail.”

While pets are a common sight on British trains, rodents are less frequent passengers. The Woodland Trust estimates that there are 2.7 million gray squirrels in the UK, with their population steadily growing.

This unusual incident has sparked amusement across the UK, highlighting the unexpected challenges that can arise in the world of public transportation.
