**FLINT, MI** – Former President Donald Trump announced Tuesday that he will be meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi next week during the latter’s visit to the United States.
Modi is scheduled to be in the US this weekend for a summit of the Quad, a group of countries including the United States, Australia, Japan, and India, hosted by President Joe Biden in Wilmington, Delaware.
The meeting between Modi and Trump was not previously reported and was first mentioned by Trump during an unrelated event in Flint, Michigan.
Trump’s meeting with Modi comes amidst the Indian Prime Minister’s decade-long tenure, during which he has advanced Hindu nationalism in India.
The Indian Embassy in Washington has not yet responded to a request for comment.
This marks the latest in a series of meetings between Trump and foreign leaders, including Hungary’s nationalist prime minister Viktor Orbán and Polish President Andrzej Duda, both of whom Trump regularly mentions in speeches.
Foreign leaders have previously explained that meetings with Trump are a standard practice for engaging with opposition figures.
