Wed Sep 18 13:21:49 UTC 2024: ## Two-Year-Old Battles for Life as He Awaits Double Transplant

**Aberdeenshire, Scotland:** A two-year-old boy, Zachary Bradford, is facing a desperate fight for his life as he awaits a life-saving double transplant. Zachary requires both a new liver and small bowel, and his parents, Jade Earaker and Rhys Bradford, are facing the heart-wrenching possibility that their son may not reach his third birthday on October 4th.

Zachary, who received a new liver earlier this year, tragically contracted sepsis during his recovery, severely damaging the organ and forcing him back onto the transplant list. Doctors have warned the family that Zachary may only have weeks to live.

The odds of finding a suitable donor for both organs are slim, as they must come from another child. The family is now desperately seeking to make the most of their remaining time with Zachary. They have launched a fundraising campaign to create lasting memories with their son, hoping to take him to places like Legoland or CBeebies Land.

“We don’t know how long we’ve got left with him but we want to make each day we have with Zachary special,” said Jade. “We would love to spend time as the four of us making memories together.”

The family is also planning to bring Christmas forward for Zachary, creating a mini nursery at home for him. They hope to create joy in his remaining days, taking him away from the constant worry and hospital visits.

“When they told us last week, it felt like all our nightmares had become reality,” shared Jade. “We’ve started speaking to a children’s hospice and we are discussing palliative care for Zachary. It doesn’t mean we have given up, but we’ve got to plan ahead and have those tough conversations about what comes next.”

The family is asking for support through their fundraising page as they navigate this challenging time.
