Wed Sep 18 01:30:00 UTC 2024: ## OceanGate Employee Claims OSHA Failure Led to Titan Submersible Disaster

**A former OceanGate employee, David Lochridge, has testified that the implosion of the submersible Titan, which killed all five people on board last year, could have been prevented if the US Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) had investigated his safety concerns.**

Lochridge, who served as OceanGate’s former operations director, filed a complaint with OSHA in 2018, expressing concerns about the experimental submersible’s safety. However, OSHA ultimately declined to investigate.

Testifying yesterday, Lochridge stated he felt “let down” by OSHA’s decision and believes their inaction contributed to the tragedy. He argued that had OSHA followed through on his complaint, the fatal flaws in the submersible might have been identified and rectified before the final, disastrous dive.

This testimony comes as the investigation into the Titan’s implosion continues. It raises significant questions about the role of regulatory bodies in overseeing the safety of experimental vessels and highlights the potential consequences of neglecting safety concerns raised by qualified professionals.
