**Salt Lake City, UT** – Despite the University of Utah’s efforts to bolster security, theft remains a significant concern on campus, with a reported 215 cases opened in the past year alone. This figure likely underestimates the actual number, as many incidents remain unreported.
The university’s public safety dashboard reveals that general theft tops the list, with 144 cases reported, followed by 62 bicycle thefts and 9 motor vehicle thefts. The majority of these incidents occur near Kahlert Village, a residence hall housing over 1,400 first-year students, and the University Hospital.
