**Ridgecrest, CA** – A teenager accused of robbing an 82-year-old man in Ridgecrest has been sentenced to one year in jail and three years of probation. Andrew Nicklas Herrera, 18, pleaded no contest to first-degree robbery and battery causing serious bodily injury.

The incident occurred on May 18th outside of Desert Valleys Federal Credit Union. Surveillance footage captured Herrera, wearing a hood, demanding money from the elderly man. When the victim refused, Herrera struck him on the head, causing him to drop his money. Herrera then collected the money while the victim was on the ground.

Three other suspects, Jaren Hoff, 19, Austin Olson, 18, and a 17-year-old, were also arrested in connection with the robbery. Hoff was sentenced to two years of probation for his role in the crime, while Olson pleaded no contest to being an accessory and will be sentenced in January. The status of charges against the 17-year-old is unclear.

The sentencing of Herrera marks the conclusion of the legal proceedings for the robbery case.
