Thu Sep 19 02:07:00 UTC 2024: ## Wallabies Make Changes Ahead of Bledisloe Cup Clash

SYDNEY – Australia’s Rugby World Cup campaign is set to kick off with a renewed focus on the Bledisloe Cup, with head coach Joe Schmidt making a raft of changes to his squad ahead of the first test against the All Blacks.

The Wallabies, fresh off a record 67-27 defeat to Argentina, are facing an uphill battle against the reigning world champions. Schmidt has acknowledged the need for a “dose of reality” after the humbling loss, and has made several alterations to his backline, hoping to build confidence and cohesion.

Key changes include the return of flyhalf Noah Lolesio and scrumhalf Nic White, who missed the Argentina match due to injury. Tom Wright will also rejoin the team at fullback, while Hunter Paisami brings his powerful running game to the centres.

The forward pack sees one key change, with Fraser McReight earning his first Rugby Championship test of the year after recovering from a broken hand. This means Carlo Tizzano, who impressed in his first four test appearances, will be on the bench.

Another significant milestone is on the horizon for James Slipper, who will become Australia’s most capped player after being named as a replacement. The prop is set to make his 140th test appearance, surpassing the legendary George Gregan.

Despite the daunting task ahead, the Wallabies are determined to make a statement. “It’s a huge motivator for us,” said Noah Lolesio. “We really want to put in the best result we can this Saturday.”

The first test of the Bledisloe Cup will take place on Saturday at Stadium Australia, with the second test to follow next week in Wellington.
