**London, UK** – Five years after his groundbreaking Oscar win for “Parasite,” South Korean director Bong Joon-ho is back with a new sci-fi black comedy titled “Mickey 17.” The film, based on Edward Ashton’s 2022 novel “Mickey7,” follows the unlikely hero Mickey Barnes, played by Robert Pattinson, who signs up to be an “expendable” on a dangerous mission.
“Expendables” are disposable employees who die for a living and are then cloned with their memories intact. However, when one of Mickey Barnes’ clones, “Mickey 17,” unexpectedly survives an expedition to colonize an ice planet, he faces off against his own clone, “Mickey 18.”
The film boasts a star-studded cast alongside Pattinson, including Naomi Ackie, Steven Yeun, Toni Collette, and Mark Ruffalo. “Mickey 17” is set to hit UK cinemas on January 31, 2025, and promises a thrilling and darkly comedic exploration of the human condition in a futuristic setting.
