Thu Sep 19 18:09:01 UTC 2024: ## Union Minister Bittu Defiant After FIR Over Rahul Gandhi Remarks

**New Delhi:** Union Minister of State for Food Processing, Ravneet Singh Bittu, has shown no signs of backing down after an FIR was registered against him for alleged remarks against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.

The FIR was filed in Bengaluru based on a complaint by a Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee member. It stems from Bittu’s criticism of Gandhi’s recent statements in the US about the condition of Sikhs in India.

Bittu, the grandson of former Punjab Chief Minister Beant Singh, has maintained that he stands by his comments and is unfazed by the police complaint. He has accused the Congress of using FIRs as a tactic to intimidate and said he will continue to speak for the unity of the country.

The FIR charges Bittu with spreading false information, provoking rioting, and promoting enmity between groups based on religion.

The dispute arises from Bittu’s Sunday remarks, where he labeled Gandhi a “number one terrorist” for allegedly being supported by those who manufacture bombs. This was in response to Gandhi’s statements in the US regarding the state of Sikh affairs in India.

The Congress has condemned Bittu’s remarks as senseless and the case is now being investigated by the High Grounds police station in Bengaluru.
