**Jammu:** Senior BJP leader and former Jammu and Kashmir Minister Priya Sethi has strongly criticized the Congress party’s election manifesto, which promises to restore statehood to Jammu and Kashmir. Sethi called the promise “misleading” and emphasized that the restoration of statehood has already been pledged by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah.
“The Congress Party’s manifesto is nothing but a desperate attempt to mislead the people of Jammu and Kashmir,” Sethi stated during her door-to-door campaign for the BJP candidate in Jammu East. “The promise of restoring statehood was made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and the current government will fulfill that promise after the elections,” she added.
Sethi accused the Congress of trying to capitalize on the issue for political gain, asserting that the people of Jammu and Kashmir are aware of the steps taken by the Modi government for their welfare. “The people of Jammu and Kashmir know that the promises made by Congress in their manifesto are not new, and they are asking direct questions to the Congress leadership about what they have done for the people of J&K in the past seventy years,” Sethi said.
She highlighted the BJP’s commitment to addressing the issues of Jammu and Kashmir and emphasized that the party genuinely cares for the people of the region.
This statement comes amidst the ongoing assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir, marking the first polls under the Union Territory status. The Congress’s manifesto, which includes the promise of restoring statehood, has sparked debate and discussion in the region.
