Thu Sep 19 17:09:16 UTC 2024: ## Modi Accuses Congress-NC Alliance of Aligning with Pakistan’s Agenda in J&K
**Katra, September 19, 2024:** Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday launched a scathing attack on the Congress-National Conference alliance in Jammu and Kashmir, accusing them of aligning with Pakistan’s agenda. Addressing a poll rally in Katra, PM Modi claimed that Pakistan was “very happy” with the alliance’s manifesto and had openly expressed support for it.
Modi’s comments followed a statement by Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, who had said that the Shehbaz Sharif government and the Congress-National Conference alliance were on the same page regarding the restoration of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir.
“Pakistan’s Defence Minister has openly come out in support of the Congress-National Conference alliance,” Modi stated. “He says their agenda is the same as that of Pakistan… Congress and National Conference want to implement Pakistan’s agenda here in Jammu and Kashmir.”
The Prime Minister further alleged that the alliance’s manifesto aimed to reinstate Article 370, which granted special autonomy to Jammu and Kashmir before its revocation by the Modi government in 2019. He warned that this would lead to renewed bloodshed in the valley.
“Every vote given to Congress will implement the manifesto of PDP and NC,” he said. “They want to bring back Article 370. This means they want bloodshed in the valley again.”
While the National Conference has explicitly pledged to restore Article 370, the Congress has maintained a cautious silence on the issue, omitting it from its manifesto. However, they have promised to restore full statehood to Jammu and Kashmir.
Modi concluded his speech by stating that the Congress-National Conference alliance was being celebrated in Pakistan, implying that they were not being taken seriously within Jammu and Kashmir.
