**CINCINNATI** – The Atlanta Braves secured a much-needed victory Wednesday night, defeating the Cincinnati Reds 7-1. The win keeps the Braves within two games of the final National League wild card spot, currently held by the Mets and Diamondbacks.

Spencer Schwellenbach pitched six strong innings, allowing just one run on five hits while striking out five. The young pitcher has been a valuable asset to the Braves this season, logging 109 innings in the majors after only 65 in his first year of professional baseball.

Marcell Ozuna broke a 1-1 tie in the seventh inning with his 38th home run of the season. The blast ended a 26-game home run drought and a 19-game RBI drought for Ozuna. He also added a double that knocked in Eli White and recorded his 100th RBI of the season.

Gio Urshela provided offensive support with three RBIs, including a bases-loaded single that extended the Braves’ lead to 4-1 in the seventh. He later added a ground-rule double in the ninth for his third RBI of the game.

The Reds were held to just three hits in the first five innings and managed their only run in the sixth when Elly De La Cruz tripled and scored on TJ Friedl’s safety squeeze.

Braves manager Brian Snitker praised Schwellenbach’s performance, highlighting his ability to navigate a tight game and secure the win. The manager also expressed happiness for Ozuna, noting the importance of reaching the 100-RBI milestone for players.

The Reds will look to bounce back in the final game of the series on Thursday, with rookie Julian Aguiar facing veteran Chris Sale.
