**New Delhi:** The Indian Cabinet has approved a bill for “One Nation One Election,” a proposal aiming to synchronize all national and state elections, as well as the Chandrayaan-4 lunar mission. The decision, announced by Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav, will be brought to Parliament during the winter session.
The “One Nation One Election” proposal has been a key initiative of the ruling NDA government since its last term. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has repeatedly spoken about the need to streamline elections, citing their disruption to national development.
The proposal, spearheaded by a high-level committee chaired by Prime Minister Modi, was further emphasized by Home Minister Amit Shah after the 100th day of the current government. Prime Minister Modi himself had mentioned the initiative during his Independence Day speech at the Red Fort, citing frequent elections as a hindrance to national progress.
A separate committee headed by former President Ram Nath Kovind submitted a comprehensive 18,626-page report on the matter to President Draupadi Murmu earlier this year.
The Cabinet also approved the Chandrayaan-4 mission, which will focus on technological advancements for returning to Earth after a successful lunar landing. The mission aims to collect samples from the moon for further analysis back on Earth.
