Wed Sep 18 17:26:00 UTC 2024: ## Purple Parade Highlights ‘Age Well’ Festival in Tottenham
Tottenham’s Bruce Castle Park will be a vibrant hub of activity on Saturday as the ‘Age Well’ Festival celebrates the richness of ageing and the contributions older people make to society.
The festival, organized by local voluntary groups in collaboration with Haringey Council and the NHS North Central London care board, encourages attendees to dress in their “favourite shade of purple” and participate in a parade through the park. Artist Donald Waugh has designed unique headpieces to add a touch of creativity to the procession.
Beyond the parade, the festival offers a wide range of activities for all ages, including dance performances, live music, pickleball, Nordic walking, and even a twist on cricket. There’s also a “wellness dome,” “eating well” and “creative” zones, along with a barbecue and bingo at the Pavilion café. Bruce Castle Museum is also opening its doors to the public.
“This festival is about being in touch with life and the richness of ageing,” says a spokesperson for the organizers. “It’s a chance for everyone to come together, regardless of age or ability, and celebrate the value of our community.”
The event runs from 12pm to 5pm and promises a fun-filled day of activity and entertainment.
