**NEW YORK, NY** – An 81-year-old woman walking her dog in the Upper West Side of Manhattan was randomly punched in the face by an unknown assailant on Friday, according to a report by FOX 5. The victim, identified only as Gloria, suffered a concussion and bruises to her face and neck but said she feels “lucky to be alive.”

Surveillance footage obtained by FOX 5 shows the attacker walking past Gloria on the sidewalk near W. 66th Street and Amsterdam Avenue at around 7 p.m. Moments later, he turns around and punches her in the face, sending her falling to the ground. The footage shows bystanders rushing to her aid as the attacker walks away.

Despite the harrowing experience, Gloria told FOX 5 that she will continue her daily walks with her dog, saying, “I’m not going to hide in my apartment.”

This incident is the latest in a series of similar attacks in the city. In March, several young women took to social media to report being punched in the face by strangers while walking in New York City.

The NYPD is currently investigating the incident.
