**Niagara Falls, ON** – A 26-year-old man has been arrested and charged with aggravated assault after a young child was allegedly choked and assaulted at a Niagara Falls daycare.

Matthew Maxwell, a resident of St. Catharines, was arrested on Tuesday following an investigation by the Niagara Regional Police Child Abuse Unit. The investigation began on Friday, September 13th, after reports of the assault at Way to Grow Daycare on Valley Way.

Police allege that Maxwell, an employee at the daycare, choked and assaulted a child under the age of five, resulting in injuries to the child.

Detectives are concerned that there may be additional victims as Maxwell previously worked at Niagara Nursery School & Child Care Centre in Niagara-on-the-Lake.
