Wed Sep 18 14:37:00 UTC 2024: ## Nebraska Special Teams Aiming for Consistency in Week 3 Win

**Lincoln, NE** – The Nebraska Huskers secured a convincing 34-3 victory over the Northern Iowa Panthers on Saturday, but Special Teams Coordinator Ed Foley is looking for more consistency from his unit.

Despite flashes of brilliance, including a blocked field goal and punts that forced tough situations for the opposing offense, Foley believes the special teams unit needs to make more game-changing plays. “Overall, we’re not playing our best football,” Foley stated. “We’ve got to play better as a unit.”

Foley provided an update on kicker Tristan Alvano, who is still recovering from an injury. “I don’t think Tristan’s 100% yet,” Foley said. “He’s getting better, and he’s challenging himself to try to get better.”

While Alvano’s confidence may be slightly affected by the injury, he’s working closely with medical and coaching staff to regain full health.

Foley also highlighted the standout performance of punter Brian Buschini, who has been used on kickoffs and impressed with his maturity. “He’s not afraid to get involved to say that’s not good enough or hey, that was a really good job,” Foley said. “It has a whole different impact when it’s peer to peer.”

Looking ahead, Foley stressed the importance of a physical special teams unit, especially as Nebraska enters Big Ten play. “It’s our DNA,” Foley said. “We’re going to do all we can do to be the most physical special teams unit in the country.”
