**Edmonton, AB** – A suspect has been arrested in connection with the death of 32-year-old Aylissa Rovere, whose body was found in Parkland County over the weekend.
Collin Boucher-Gionet, 34, has been charged with second-degree murder and indignity to a body. Police say the two were in an intimate relationship.
Boucher-Gionet was found Tuesday night after police issued warrants for his arrest earlier that day. He was allegedly driving a stolen truck, which has since been recovered.
Rovere’s disappearance was initially reported as a missing person case last Friday. Homicide investigators took over the investigation after her body was discovered during a search warrant execution. An autopsy confirmed the deceased was Rovere and the manner of death was homicide.
Rovere’s family is heartbroken by her death. Her brother, Christopher Rovere, described her as a loving mother of two teenage children and the youngest of seven siblings. He said she struggled with anxiety but found solace in singing.
The family filed a missing person report after Rovere failed to contact her son for several days, a behavior that was out of character. They were comforted by a double rainbow appearing after her son arrived at their mother’s house on Sunday, which they believe was a sign from Rovere.
A GoFundMe campaign has been launched to support Rovere’s children and help with funeral costs.
