Wed Sep 18 21:07:00 UTC 2024: ## Champions League Opener Ends in Frustrating Draw for Manchester City

Manchester City’s Champions League campaign got off to a disappointing start as they were held to a goalless draw by Inter Milan at the Etihad Stadium. Despite fielding a new “Definitely City” kit, inspired by the band Oasis, the hosts failed to find their usual rhythm and struggled to break down a resolute Inter side.

The first half saw City dominate possession but create few clear-cut chances. Inter, on the other hand, looked dangerous on the counterattack and missed a number of opportunities to take the lead. The most glaring miss came from former Manchester United defender Matteo Darmian, who bizarrely opted to backheel the ball rather than shoot when clean through on goal.

City’s performance improved in the second half with the introduction of Phil Foden and Ilkay Gundogan, but they still struggled to find a way past the resolute Inter defense. Former Manchester United midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan also spurned a golden chance for Inter, blasting over from 10 yards out.

The result leaves both teams with one point in Group C, with the draw being a frustrating start for City after their triumphant 2023 Champions League win.
